Foster Distinctive, Attractive Communities
with a Strong Sense of Place

Certainly everyone desires attractive communities, but what do Smart Growthers mean by a “Strong Sense of Place?” This certainly sounds laudable if promoted in a constructive and common sense way. Architectural standards for new communities makes sense. In fact, because of increasing consumer demand for more attractive homes, builders are responding with more appealing home styles. Under the guise of this Smart Growth principle, “infill” is promoted as an adopted public policy (meaning new laws to force “infill”). As previously stated, this ignores the reasonable desire and right of many home buyers to live outside of a city.
