So there you have it: Smart Growth principles sound perfectly sensible and laudible on the surface, but scratch a little of the gilding away and you see the true agenda of the Smart
Growthers and fringe, anti-growth enviromentalists. If Smart Growth principles were to be adopted, only wealthy people could afford to buy a larger ranch parcel out in the country and middle-income people would have no choice except living within a town or city.
As Steven Greenhut, Senior Editorial Writer for The Orange County Register in an article entitled “Suburbs A Sin to Smart Growthers,” writes “These planners and their disciples believe in their hearts that suburbia is evil, and they are going to use the power of government to save us all.”
Remember, that unless we are vigilant, they will force Smarth Growth’s flawed philosophy upon us through rules and regulations by controlling elections and influencing politicians.
